Independent foundations and other resources

PAN Foundation: Helps underinsured patients with out-of-pocket costs for specific conditions, granting money to pay co-pays, deductibles, and more. Medications: Varies by funded disease (MS, Parkinson’s, etc.)

Good Days (Chronic Disease Fund): Provides co-pay and premium assistance for chronic or rare diseases; sometimes covers neurology like MS, NMO, Parkinson’s. Medications: Varies by disease (e.g. MS, Neuromyelitis Optica)

The Assistance Fund (TAF): Independent charity with disease-specific funds paying co-pays/deductibles for insured patients if they meet financial criteria. Medications: Varies widely (MS, Epilepsy, MG, etc.)

HealthWell Foundation: Nonprofit for underinsured patients covering medication/infusion co-pays & insurance premiums for various serious conditions. Medications: Condition-specific (MS, etc.)

Patient Advocate Foundation Co-Pay Relief: PAF’s CPR program helps pay insured patients’ co-pays for medications in certain disease funds, awarding grants yearly. Medications: Various, including MS, PD, migraine, etc.

Accessia Health (formerly PSI): National nonprofit offering premium, co-pay, and ancillary assistance for insured patients with certain diagnoses, typically up to 400-500% FPL. Medications: Many chronic/rare diseases (MS, MG, etc.)

National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) – RareCare: NORD partners with drugmakers for patient assistance programs in rare diseases, often providing free meds or travel cost help. Medications: Rare/orphan neurological conditions (e.g. LEMS, MG, ALS variants, etc.)

NeedyMeds (Database): A free website to find PAPs, co-pay cards, coupons, and disease-based assistance by searching the medication name or condition. Medications: All meds (searchable)

Medicine Assistance Tool (PhRMA): A search tool from PhRMA that locates manufacturer patient assistance programs and discount resources by medication name or maker. Medications: All meds (search engine)

RxAssist (Database): Comprehensive PAP directory with eligibility details and applications, originally AstraZeneca-funded, still updated as a free resource. Medications: All meds (searchable)

Epilepsy Foundation: Has a 24/7 helpline (1-800-332-1000) guiding patients to specific PAPs/co-pay aids for epilepsy treatments and referral to TAF or other charities. Medications: Anti-seizure meds (referrals)

National MS Society: Maintains an updated prescription assistance list for MS (including manufacturer PAPs, nonprofit co-pay funds), plus an MS Navigators helpline (1-800-344-4867). Medications: All MS meds (referrals)

Parkinson’s Foundation: No direct PAP but guides patients to assistance (partners with PAN for co-pay help, has a helpline 1-800-4PD-INFO). Medications: Parkinsons disease meds (referrals)

Alzheimer’s Association: Provides a 24/7 helpline (1-800-272-3900) with info on resources and potential assistance; most Alzheimer’s drugs are generic, but they can advise on research or new therapies like Leqembi. Drugs: Alzheimer’s meds (referrals)
