Electromyogram (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Study (NCS)
It is important to have this test done by a Neurologist with experience performing this test as results can be operator dependent. Currently, we have three board certified Electromyographers who perform the test on a regular basis. An EMG measures and records electrical activity from the muscles and nerves. This may be helpful in determining the cause of pain, numbness, tingling or weakness in the muscles or nerves. Small needles are inserted into the muscle and mild electrical shocks are given to stimulate the nerve.
